SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy hosted its annual Virginia Middle School Invitational on Saturday at the Fred Hardy Cross Country Course, welcoming 26 schools from across the region. The Blue Devils fielded four runners for the event, three of whom were competing in their first-ever 5K. Despite their inexperience, the team showed tremendous effort and composure, gaining valuable race experience on their home course.
QUOTE: "It was a great day for FUMA," said head coach Winston Brown. "We had a total of four entries, and three had never run a 5K before. Their efforts went beyond expectations. Nathaniel Wood and Chris Zhang competed very well, as did Ethan Guo. As is our tradition, the varsity team officiated the meet and did a fantastic job."
