SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's swimming program celebrated Senior Night in dominant fashion, capturing first place at the January Invitational Thursday evening at the Fork Union Aquatics Center. Hosting five teams, the squad recorded 16 podium finishes, including seven event victories. Prior to the meet, the Academy honored its eight seniors during a special pre-meet recognition ceremony, setting the tone for a memorable night.
QUOTE: "The highlight of our final home meet of the season was our senior recognition," said head coach Jon Larson. "We will definitely miss all eight seniors, but we're excited to watch them begin the next chapter of their lives. From a competition standpoint, we were solid overall, even with a few sloppy mistakes that can happen when swimming in your home pool. A special moment came when senior Frank Duarte chose to close out his career by swimming the 400-meter freestyle. which is the longest race in high school swimming. His successful swim was met with some of the loudest cheering of the night from every team and spectator. It was a really fun evening."
