SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's Varsity Lacrosse team closed out its season on a high note, earning a 14-9 victory over New Covenant School on Tuesday afternoon.
QUOTE: "This win was an incredible way to end our season! I am extremely proud of the cadets for their hard work," said head coach Thomas Gaeth. "We were able to control the pace from the start, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter. While a few defensive mistakes allowed them to match us in the second quarter, we maintained a 7-4 lead at halftime.
"In the second half, we stuck to our game plan and continued to control the tempo. We led 11-6 at the end of the third quarter, then made some key defensive adjustments and added three more goals in the fourth to seal the 14-9 win.
"I want to give a special shout-out to our seniors: James Guinee, Everett Dumolien, Sawyer Leko, Vu Tran, and
Ian Egbert. Congratulations on ending your high school lacrosse careers with a win. Best of luck in college, gentlemen!"
