FORK UNION, VA – The Fork Union Military Academy Prep lacrosse team defeated Benedictine College Prep, 9-5, this past Friday on Senior Day. 
 
"This was a game that I was a little nervous about coming into because it was a textbook let-up game," said head coach Joe Howard. "This was a team we had beaten pretty good earlier in the year and we had two big games coming up right after, so it was an easy one to overlook. We came in with a more relaxed attitude that we should have, and Benedictine took advantage of it early. Luckily, we shook out of it by the second half and were able to pull out a win. I think a lot of credit should go to our senior leadership for this one. They were able to refocus the team and were crucial today, as they have been all year."
 
The two teams traded goals early before Fork Union went ahead 4-2 after the first. Benedictine cut the lead 4-3 two minutes into the second quarter, but the Blue Devils broke through, scoring five straight throughout the remainder of the second and into the third to secure the win. 
 
Phillip Barrow led the squad with three goals off eight shots, while Corey Fraser connected on one goal with three assists. Jack Greenspon also added two goals and an assist for Fork Union. 
 
In the cage, John Hughes recorded three saves. 
 
Prior to the start, the Athletic Department honored Fork Union's 12 seniors for their hard work and dedication to the Academy and program.
