FINAL SCORE: Fork Union 16, Covenant School 10
RECORD: 1-0
SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's Varsity Lacrosse team kicked off its 2025 season in strong fashion with a 16-10 victory on the road at Covenant School Tuesday afternoon.
QUOTE: "We got off to an incredible start, leading 6-1 at the end of the first quarter," said head coach Tom Gaeth. "We stumbled a bit in the second quarter, allowing Covenant to tie the game at 6-6. After a quick timeout, the team responded well, played solid settled defense, and the offense added four more goals to take a 10-7 lead into halftime."
Gaeth added, "We had a slow third quarter that allowed Covenant to close the gap to two, ending the frame at 11-9. But our offense came alive again in the fourth, and we finished strong for a 16-10 win. This was a great way to open the season. The cadets played hard and earned this victory. I'm incredibly proud of their performance and excited to see how we match up against the reigning state champions in our next game at Blue Ridge."
