SHORT STORY: The Fork Union Military Academy Postgraduate Lacrosse team turned in a strong performance this past weekend at the Autumn Gold Showcase in Columbia, Maryland, finishing the event with an impressive 5–1 record against top national prep and club programs in front of hundreds of college coaches. The Autumn Gold Showcase once again proved to be one of the premier recruiting events of the fall season, attracting coaches from across the country. Despite a tight schedule and cool November weather, the team maintained high energy and execution throughout the weekend, earning praise from both coaches and scouts.
QUOTE: "Our guys played hard all weekend, and I was really proud of the grit and resiliency we displayed against some very good programs," said head coach
Chris Panos. "We showed toughness, adaptability, and maturity in tight games. A 5–1 finish against great competition says a lot about the work this group has put in over the last few months, both individually and collectively. We know there's still room to grow, and we'll focus on those key areas over the next few weeks in practice and film study as we prepare for our next challenge at the NHSLS Recruiting Event later this month."
WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Strong Start: Fork Union opened the showcase with decisive wins, using quick ball movement and relentless ride pressure to control tempo early in games.
- Offensive Efficiency: The attack unit demonstrated balanced scoring, with multiple players recording multi-goal games.
- Defensive Consistency: The defense anchored the team's success, communicating effectively and limiting second-chance opportunities.
- Resilience: In their lone loss, Fork Union battled to the final whistle before bouncing back to close out the event with a strong Sunday performance.
