SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's swimming team opened its home schedule with securing quality wins at the Fork Union December Invitational, defeating three of the four teams competing. The Blue Devils defeated Miller School, Hargrave Military Academy, and Louisa County, while falling to Woodberry Forest School Saturday at the Fork Union Aquatics Center.
QUOTE: "The main objective of our home meets is to get every cadet on the roster in at least one event, and we did that," said head coach Jon Larson. "Our only team loss was to Woodberry, who we beat four days earlier. Hosting a meet is a total-team effort, as the swimmers help set up and break down the facility. There were a lot of positives outside of just the swimming results."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue Devils achieved 18 top-five finishes, including 12 podium spots.
- Liam Jenson claimed victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.90.
- Nicholas Willis (50 Free), Andres Olalla-Casas (100 Free), and Brandon Scheel (100 Back) all delivered strong runner-up performances.
- Scheel added a third-place finish in the 100 Fly to round out a successful day.
- The relay teams had standout performances, with the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay all earning top-three finishes.
