Fork Union Wins Mini Meet at Home, Debuts New Gus Lacy Track

SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's track and field program opened the home season in impressive fashion, placing first overall at its Mini Invitational on Tuesday afternoon while debuting the newly renovated Gus Lacy Track.

Competing against three visiting teams, the Blue Devils recorded 19 top-three finishes, including four event victories, to total 105.5 points and secure the team title. Fluvanna County finished second with 74.5 points, followed by Saint Anne's-Belfield (62), while Fishburne Military School rounded out the field.

QUOTE: "Track and field is back at the Gus Lacy Track!" said head coach Winston Brown. "Our team had a strong day, led by Cameron Gray with a 27-foot personal best in the discus. Our hurdlers and sprinters showed great improvement, and I want to recognize Rich Taddei for his outstanding work on the Spiak throwing sectors. We're excited to keep building as we prepare for the Gus Lacy Track Classic."

UP NEXT: Fork Union returns to action on Saturday, April 11, hosting the 27th Annual Gus Lacy Track Classic. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated track at 11:50 a.m.
