SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's track and field program was active across multiple venues this past weekend, with student-athletes competing in three different meets.

The Blue Devils opened the outdoor season at the annual Brian Watkins Invitational at Potomac Senior High School, recording 12 top-15 finishes. Meanwhile, the middle school squad turned in an impressive performance at Louisa County's Middle School Invitational, earning six top-five finishes, including two individual event champions.

In addition to the outdoor competitions, two Blue Devils represented the Academy on the national stage at the Adidas Indoor Nationals in Virginia Beach.

QUOTE: "It was a busy weekend for our team with athletes competing in three different locations," said head coach Winston Brown. "Our middle school team was outstanding, earning two event wins and numerous top finishes. On the varsity side, we had five state qualifiers, led by George Owino and Robert Callahan. Seniors Shaun Matthews and Kimari Sutton also met the standard in the 300 hurdles. Javier Rosa and Jackson Sereno competed at Adidas Indoor Nationals, and we were able to get everyone back in time for Military Ball."

Middle School Invitational

• Rylan Smith – 1st in shot put (43-6.00), 2nd in discus (102-2.00)
• Nathaniel Wood – 1st in pole vault (8-0.00)
• Nicholas Bennett – 2nd in shot put (43-6.00)
• Elijah Green – 5th in 100-meter (12.78)

Adidas Indoor Nationals

• Javier Rosa – 68th in triple jump (38-2.00)
• Jackson Sereno – 71st in shot put (41-9.25)
