SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's outdoor track and field team brought home the team title at the 2025 Shoot the Gun & Run Invitational, held this past Saturday at New Kent High School. The Blue Devils earned nine podium finishes, including two event victories, to outpace the 15-team field by nearly 20 points.
QUOTE: "It was an outstanding team effort from top to bottom," said head coach Winston Brown. "Our athletes showed up across multiple events, from sprints to distance to field, and everyone contributed to the win. This wasn't just about individual performances, it was about depth, consistency, and guys stepping up when we needed them."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- David Eaton won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:31.99.
- The 4x100 relay team captured gold with a time of 43.41.
- Malachi Walsh took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.32.
- Mekyi Shepard earned third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.92.
UP NEXT:
The Blue Devils travel to the Run 804 Invitational at Henrico High School on Saturday, April 5. Events begin at 9:00 a.m.
