SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's outdoor track and field team wrapped up its season with a strong performance at the 2025 VISAA State Championships held at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond. The Blue Devils secured eight top-five finishes, including a state title in the 4x800-meter relay, earning them a sixth-place finish overall among 13 competing teams. 
 

QUOTE: "It was a big ending for our distance runners and our seniors," said head coach Winston Brown. "A huge win in the 4x800 and a few near misses in other events. We had a strong finish to the season over the last two weeks." 
 

KEY PERFORMERS:  

• 4x800 Relay Team: 1st with a time of 8:10.33 thanks to David Eaton, Robert Callahan, Nicholas Willis, and Malachi Walsh 

• 4x400 Relay Team: 2nd with a time of 3:24.66 thanks to Shaun Matthews, Mekyi Shepard, Kaydan Whiteside, and Willis 

• Carmelo Spaulding: 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.96 

• Mekyi Shepard: 3rd in the 400-meter with a time of 50.51 

• Kaydan Whiteside: 4th in the 400-meter with a time of 50.54 

• Robert Callahan: 4th in the 3200-meter with a time of 10:18.00 

• David Eaton: 5th in the 3200-meter with a time of 10:20.91
