PG Basketball Battles for Two Hard-Fought Conference Victories

DATE: Friday, February 7-Saturday, February 8, 2025
LOCATION: Woodstock, VA | Massanutten Military Academy
SCORE
  • PG Basketball 60, Hargrave Military 59
  • PG Basketball 72, Perkiomen 69
RECORD: 22-8 Overall, 5-3 EPL

SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's Postgraduate Basketball team put together a standout weekend at Massanutten's Military Circuit, earning two thrilling victories against top competition. The Blue Devils defeated military school rival Hargrave Military Academy in a dramatic 60-59 finish before taking down the No. 2 conference-ranked Perkiomen School, 72-69.

QUOTE: "Hargrave totally outplayed us for 35 minutes and led by double figures for much of the game," said head coach Bob Williams. "Then, suddenly, we cut it to seven with under five minutes to play and continued to get stops down the stretch. Down two with 15 seconds left, we had the ball, and Jacob King was able to get free for the game-winning three-pointer with six seconds left. Hargrave had an open drive to the basket, but the buzzer sounded before the ball left their player's hand. It was a great victory for our guys—and, of course, for Fork Union."

Coming off the emotional win against Hargrave, Fork Union controlled the game against Perkiomen from the opening tip. Perkiomen managed to tie the game late, but the Blue Devils' defense stepped up in the final moments to seal the win. "Perkiomen is a very good team, so this was another big EPL victory for Fork Union," Williams added. "Kaleb Spencer and Javon Brooks were standouts—Javon came off the bench to give the team a big spark with 12 points."
