FORK UNION, VA – Fork Union Military Academy is proud to announce that postgraduate cadet Reymar Hare has officially signed a National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at Saint Thomas University. The signing ceremony took place Monday morning at the Estes Athletic Center, marking a significant milestone in Hare's athletic and academic journey. 
 

"It is a special day for the Academy and certainly for Rey and his family," said Head Coach Chris Panos. "About four months ago, while I was at a lacrosse camp, I received a text from a friend who said he had a player who might be interested in coming our way. After learning a little about Rey and that he played offense, I looked at our depth chart and thought, 'We could really use a defenseman.' During our meeting with Rey and his family, we talked about his versatility and whether he would consider playing defense for us. 
 

"When you talk about the qualities that make a team great, Rey truly embodies them," Panos continued. "He did what was best for the team. Rey will go on to play offense in college, and not a lot of players are willing to make that kind of sacrifice. We are incredibly grateful for his selflessness and his willingness to take on that role to help our team be competitive and successful." 
 

Hare, the son of Roxanne Basol and Adam Hare of Newberry, Florida, joined Fork Union this year as part of the Academy's second postgraduate season. A 5-foot-7 long-stick midfielder, Hare played defense for the Blue Devils. 
 

"When Rey arrived, he wasn't sure where he wanted to go," Panos added. "He checks all the boxes as a prospective student-athlete: strong academics, a tremendous attitude, and great character. This year provided him with the opportunity to gain additional exposure. Saint Thomas University has a brand-new program, which is like what we are building here. It's a place where Rey can make a name for himself and leave a lasting impact, and I know that's exactly what he will do."
