SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy's Postgraduate basketball team went undefeated at the Elite Prep League (EPL) Tip-Off this past weekend, opening conference play with two strong victories at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. The Blue Devils defeated Canada TopFlight, 94–75, on Saturday before capping the weekend with a thrilling 75–74 comeback win over Athletes in Action on Sunday.
QUOTE: "The EPL Tip-Off at Boo Williams was a very successful event for our program," said head coach
Bob Williams. "Against Canada TopFlight, we came out locked in and jumped out to a 20–0 lead. Our guys were hungry to compete after Wednesday's loss to Virginia Union, and you could see that energy right from the start.
"
Adarius Boston had a great two days in his homecoming.
TayShawn Mann was terrific on Saturday and was close to a triple-double.
Keoni Sacco and
Finn Perschau also played very well.
"Sunday's matchup with Athletes in Action was a grind. Boston was excellent again and made key plays down the stretch. I was proud of how our team fought back after trailing by 13 points with under 10 minutes to play.
Phoenix Sickles stepped up with a big performance, and Sacco continued to dominate the boards.
"Our bench contributed in important moments, too, as point guard
Aiden Zamor had five assists and zero turnovers and was critical during the comeback in the final seven minutes. AIA is a very good team and shot the ball extremely well. Our guys grew a lot this weekend."
