FORK UNION, Va. – The Fork Union Post Graduate basketball team picked up a crucial overtime win over No. 15-ranked Massanutten Military Academy, 83-79, Tuesday night at the Thomas Gym.
With the win, Fork Union improved to 22-3 overall and finished its home slate undefeated with 13 victories.
The Blue Devils were led by guard
LePear Toles and forward
Lamont McManus, who both recorded double-doubles. The duo tallied 19 points apiece, while Toles grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds with McManus following with 10 of his own.
"I was really proud of the team for the resiliency they showed last night against a super talented Massanutten," said head coach
Matt Donohue. "We went down 10 in the second half and battled back to tie it up at the end of regulation. The game went to overtime where we were able to pull off the victory. Playing at home is always an absolute treat for us. Anyone who has been to a home game at Fork Union understands that the atmosphere in Thomas is second to none. The cadet corps takes over the gym. They bring a unique and intimidating energy which helps the team to overcome difficult situations."
Fork Union returns to action Friday, Feb. 17 when it travels to Annapolis, Md., to face Navy at 7 p.m.
