SHORT STORY: Fork Union Military Academy welcomed 17 teams to the Fred Hardy Cross Country Course on Saturday for the annual Virginia Middle School Invitational.
The Blue Devils were represented by three runners, led by Graham Canestaro (Seattle, WA) with a 20th-place finish. Beyond the competition, Fork Union's varsity cross country team played an important role in hosting and operating the meet, continuing a longstanding program tradition that gives cadets hands-on experience in putting on a cross country event.
QUOTE:
"It was a near-perfect weather day and a great performance from our whole team," said head coach Winston Brown. "Graham Canestaro was tough, and our varsity team did a great job putting on the meet. The Middle School Invitational has been a long-held tradition for us where our kids learn how to put on an event. It was a good day for everyone involved."
