James Yu Named All-Prep League in Tennis

FORK UNION, VA -- Fork Union Military Academy junior James Yu made history this season as the first Blue Devil tennis player in over 40 years to earn All-Prep League honors.

Yu, an 11th grader from Singapore, Singapore, played at the top of the lineup all season, finishing with a 5-4 regular season record at the No. 1 singles position. He qualified for the Prep League Championships as the fourth-ranked No. 1 seed among the six Prep League schools and represented Fork Union with determination and pride.

His most dominant performance of the season came in an 8-1 victory over longtime rival Woodberry Forest. Yu also picked up key wins against Prince Edward High School (twice), Blue Ridge School, and Miller School.

"James never gave up hope in any of his matches," said head coach Meadow Grabeel. "He took every opportunity to learn and grow, viewing each match, win or lose, as a chance to improve. His sportsmanship and leadership have made him a tremendous role model for our team, and I couldn't be prouder to be his coach."

Yu, the son of Qianli Yu, was honored with All-Prep League recognition following the conclusion of the championship tournament, a significant milestone for Fork Union's tennis program and a testament to his hard work and character both on and off the court.
