SHORT STORY:
Fork Union Military Academy's Postgraduate Lacrosse team put up a strong fight on the road but fell short against Howard Community College, 18-14, in a competitive matchup Saturday in Columbia, Maryland.
QUOTE:
"Losing is part of every success journey, and we learned some valuable lessons on and off the field Saturday," said head coach
Chris Panos.
"Unfortunately, we were without five players, which put us in a tough spot. However, I must give credit to the 12 players who stepped up with grit and determination, keeping us competitive in an 18-14 loss."
"The game was tied at 5-5 after the first quarter, but we struggled in the second, getting outscored 6-1 and trailing 11-6 at halftime. That said, I challenged the team to win the second half, and they responded by outscoring our opponent 8-7 in the final 30 minutes. At one point, we closed the gap to within a single goal, and I was proud of their effort and resiliency."
"We'll regroup this week as we prepare for a challenging doubleheader weekend. We face Navy Prep in Annapolis on Saturday before taking on Essex Community College in Baltimore on Sunday."
