Fork Union Military Academy Partners with Positive Coaching Alliance to Benefit Youth Athletes

FORK UNION, VA – Fork Union Military Academy is proud to announce its partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit dedicated to providing youth and high school athletes with a positive, character-building sports experience.

Through this partnership, the Academy will have access to PCA's comprehensive training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes, and administrators. These resources include live group workshops, online courses, and ongoing support through follow-up tips and reminders, all aimed at using sports as a platform for positive youth development.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 schools, districts, conferences, and youth sports organizations across the country to create a "Development Zone" culture—fostering a sports environment that prioritizes both athletic success and the development of character and life skills. "We look forward to working with Fork Union Military Academy to create the best possible sports experience for their student-athletes," said Positive Coaching Alliance President Jason Sacks. "We appreciate the academy's leadership in making a positive sports experience a priority for all involved. When sports are done right, it not only teaches athletes to strive for victory but also instills life lessons that endure far beyond their playing careers."

CAPT Mark Black, President of Fork Union Military Academy, shared his excitement about the collaboration: "I have personally participated in the Positive Coaching Alliance program numerous times throughout the last twenty years.  PCA has immeasurably impressed me during every engagement.  Partnering with Positive Coaching Alliance aligns perfectly with our mission to build young men of character, leadership, and service. By embracing PCA's training, we are equipping our athletes, coaches, and parents with the tools to foster a culture of respect, resilience, and sportsmanship—values that are at the core of our Academy. This partnership will enhance our athletic programs and have a lasting impact on our cadets' growth both on and off the field."

The Academy will host its first Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop for its coaches on Friday, November 15 from 1-3 p.m.
