"It was great to see 10 young men honored for All-State honors for our football team this year," said head coach
Mark Shuman. "Each player that was honored helped our football team immensely during our season. These young men did a great job leading our football team on and off the field, and for them to be honored shows how all the hard work we put into the season paid off not only for them but our team as a whole."
Moss, Brickhouse and Hampton earned first-team honors, while White earned second-team honors. Brown, Crawford, Edmond, Lampro, Chevrier and Zegbe earned honorable mention honors.
Moss is a 6-foot-0, 193-pound senior from Charlotte, North Carolina. He is the son of Lydia and Randy Moss and played wide receiver for the Blue Devils this season. Moss recorded 57 receptions for 1,274 yards with 14 touchdowns and also was named to the All-Virginia Prep team.
"
Montigo Moss had a spectacular season for us at wide receiver this year," said Shuman. "He led our team in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns. He has an amazing ability on the football field and was one of our go-to guys every game. His athletic ability is something that teams focused on each week, and to have the numbers he had this year while getting double covered most of the season shows how special he is as a football player. He will be remembered as one of the best athletes that has played at Fork Union."
Brickhouse is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound senior from Bowie, Maryland. He is the son of Katrina and Andre Brickhouse and played tight end and defensive line for the Blue Devils this season. Brickhouse recorded 29 total tackles, five sacks, nine tackles for a loss and one forced fumble. He also earned All-Virginia Prep honors this year.
"
Myles Brickhouse was another exceptional performer for us this year on and off the field," said Shuman. "His presence on the defensive line was noticed in every game, and wreaked havoc on opposing offenses all year. Myles will have a great future not only as a football player, but as a great young man after he graduates from the Academy."
Hampton is a 5-foot-10, 178-pound junior from Chester, Virginia. He is the son of Vivian Harper-Hampton and John Hampton and played running back and defensive back for the Blue Devils this season. Hampton recorded 1,122 yards on 192 carries with eight touchdowns, while grabbing five receptions for 49 total yards. He also earned All-Virginia Prep honors this year.
"
V'Jon Hampton had a great season at running back for us this year," said Shuman. "He had over 1,000 yards rushing for us, and easily had close to 20 carries each game which shows how tough he is as well. He was a player that rarely came off the field for us, playing both sides of the ball. He has great football instinct and whenever he had the ball in his hands, we all knew he had a chance to make a great play. We look forward to V'Jon coming back next year and being a leader of our football team."
White is a 5-foot-9, 195-pound senior from Elk Grove, California. He is the son of Claudia and Stanley White and played running back and linebacker for the Blue Devils this season. White totaled 110 tackles, one sack and eight tackles for a loss this season. He earned All-Virginia Prep honors as well.
"
Xavier White is the type of young man you cannot say enough great things about," said Shuman. "His presence is felt all over our campus whether it is on the football field, in the classroom or a leader amongst his peers. There were many games where Xavier played just about every snap for us on offense, defense and special teams. He is a guy you can always count on to give 100-percent no matter how tired or banged up he was. His leadership on our football team will be missed next year."
Brown is a 6-foot-3, 196-pound senior from Broadlands, Virginia. He is the son of Greg and Laura Brown and played tight end and defensive line for the Blue Devils this season. Brown totaled 48 tackles, three sacks and nine tackles for a loss this season.
"
Rockland Brown is a player on the defensive line that plays with great effort and a motor every down he is in," said Shuman. "His first two steps off the line of scrimmage made him extremely hard to block for opposing offensive linemen. He battled through multiple injuries this year and played his hardest every single time he hit the field."
Crawford is a 6-foot-0, 209-pound senior from Columbus, Ohio. He is the son of Sean and Theresa Crawford and played offensive and defensive line for the Blue Devils this season. Crawford totaled 28 tackles with 10 for a loss, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery this season.
"
Carter Crawford is a player that has a lot of raw ability and great instincts," said Shuman. "One of the best moments of football is when a defensive lineman intercepts a pass and tries to return it for a touchdown. To see him intercept a pass during the Trinity game this year was an awesome sight to see. We used Carter at every position on the defensive line this year, and that shows how versatile and competitive he is on the football field. He was another player we could always count on to make a big play at big moments in games."
Edmond is a 5-foot-9, 185-pound senior from Baltimore, Maryland. He is the son of Martis Edmond and Tameka Young and played defensive back, wide receiver and quarterback for the Blue Devils this season. Edmond totaled 20 tackles and five interceptions this season.
"
Nasir Edmond is one of those players that if he stayed healthy the whole season, he could have made the first-team ballot," said Shuman. "He led our team with five interceptions with only playing in seven games. He is another great athlete and what he does on the football field is a special talent."
Lampro is a 5-foot-11, 265-pound senior from Derry, New Hampshire. He is the son of Tim and Noreen Lampro and started at center, guard and tackle for the Blue Devils this season. He was also named to the All-Virginia Prep team this season.
"
Nick Lampro was the anchor of our offensive line this year," said Shuman. "He can play any position on our offensive line and showed great leadership there as well. He is another exceptional young man that will go on to do great things after his time at Fork Union. He will be missed next year."
Zegbe is a 5-foot-9, 150-pound senior from Ashburn, Virginia. He is the son of Medard Zegbe and Marie Claire Zegbe played wide receiver, defensive back and was a return specialist for the Blue Devils this season. Zegbe recorded 103 yards off 21 carries and one touchdown, while tallying 119 yards off four receptions. Defensively, he recorded 27 total tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble, while also recording two kick-off return touchdowns. Zegbe also earned All-Virginia Prep honors this season.
"
Steve Zegbe is as dynamic as an athlete can be when he steps on the football field," said Shuman. "His raw athletic ability allowed us to play him at running back, wide receiver, defensive back and kick returner. Whether it was playing on an island on the defensive side of the ball, running the ball, beating the defense on deep passes, or returning kicks for touchdowns his talent is truly special."
Chevrier is a 5-foot-5, 142-pound senior from Leesburg, Virginia. He is the son of Deidre and Greg Chevrier and played running back and defensive back for the Blue Devils this season. Chevrier totaled 80 tackles, two for a loss, one interception and one fumble recovery this season. He also was named to the All-Virginia Prep team this year.
"It says a lot about a player when you earn All-State honors as a safety in our league when you are barely 5-foot-5," said Shuman. "His competitiveness on the football field goes unmatched, and he always played with a chip on his shoulder. Grant made up what he lacked in size with football smarts and desire to be great at his craft."
