FORK UNION, VA – Fork Union Military Academy celebrated two senior student-athletes Wednesday morning as
Joshua Landskroener and
Kimari Sutton officially committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.
Landskroener signed to play lacrosse at Malone University, while Sutton signed to play basketball at King University.
Held just days before graduation, the ceremony brought together teammates, coaches, faculty, staff, and family members to celebrate the dedication, perseverance, and growth both cadets displayed during their time at the Academy.
Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach Mike Tyrrell reflected on Landskroener's development and leadership within the lacrosse program over the past two years.
"Josh has been a huge part of our program," Tyrrell said. "He's grown tremendously both as a player and as a young man during his time here. He competed every single day, embraced leadership opportunities, and consistently stepped up whenever we asked him to. We're proud of everything he's accomplished and excited to see what he'll do at Malone."
Landskroener, the son of Douglas and Dee Landskroener of Beavercreek, Ohio, has been enrolled at the Academy for two years.
"I'm very thankful to the Fork Union lacrosse program and everyone who supported me during my time here," Landskroener said. "These last two years have helped me grow a lot both on and off the field, and I'm grateful for the opportunity."
Varsity Basketball Head Coach Ben Cooper praised Sutton for the leadership and work ethic he brought to the basketball program during his senior year.
"Kamari has worked extremely hard for everything he's earned," Cooper said. "He was a tremendous teammate and leader for our program, and he played a big role in helping us continue to build the culture we want here at Fork Union. We're excited that he'll have the opportunity to continue competing at King University while pursuing his academic goals as well."
Sutton, the son of Keith and Angela Sutton of Prince George, Virginia, enrolled at the Academy for his junior year.
"I'm grateful for everybody here at Fork Union, especially my family and coaches," Sutton said. "The basketball, track, and cross country programs all helped push me to become stronger, faster, and more disciplined. I'm thankful for everything this place has done for me."
The signing ceremony marked another milestone for Fork Union Athletics as both cadets prepare to graduate later this week and continue their journeys as collegiate student-athletes.
