FORK UNION, Va. – The Fork Union Junior Prep football team defeated Woodberry Forest, 15-8, Tuesday afternoon at the Stadium Field in its season finale.
 
With the win, the Blue Devils finished the season 7-2 overall, including an undefeated 4-0 record at home.
 
It was a battle of the defenses throughout the day, as the first score came late in the season quarter. Freshman Drue Hackenberg found the end zone off a one-yard rush and gave Fork Union a 7-0 lead at the half.
 
It wasn't until five minutes left in the fourth when the Blue Devils went up 15-0 thanks to a one-yard touchdown pass from Hackenberg to Elijah Hawks before a successful two-point conversion.
 
Woodberry Forest scored and went for two with under three minutes to go, but it was not enough to overcome Fork Union.
 
The Blue Devils finished the day with 245 total yards thanks to 171 yards rushing. Kobe Edmonds led both teams with 148 yards on 22 attempts with a long of 24 yards. Hackenberg completed 8-of-17 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. Hawks and Charlie Carene led the receiving corps with over 30 yards each.
 
Defensively, three Blue Devils recorded over five tackles, including Ian McGlamery with seven tackles and nine assists. Xavier White followed with six tackles and four assists, while Chrishawn Hickman tallied five tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery.
 
Throughout the day, Fork Union's defense forced five turnovers as Hawks led the team with two interceptions.
