FRONT ROYAL, VA – The Fork Union Military Academy golf program defeated military school rival Randolph-Macon Academy, 196-222, Tuesday afternoon at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.
This marks the first win for the program since May 10, 2012, when the Blue Devils defeated Christchurch, 210-227, at the Golden Eagles Golf Club. The Academy stopped having varsity golf after the 2012 season prior to resurrecting the program in 2019.
"This was a hard-fought success at RMA after years of struggle," said head coach Joseph Kenny. "The boys' hard work paid off, and with the support of Major McDaniel, we have a strong team. We're all looking forward to further domination on the course, with challenges from Woodberry Forest and Blue Ridge coming up."
The Blue Devils were led by captain
William Willis. The sophomore scored a match-low of 41, followed by sophomore
Jake Nichols' 47. Sophomore
Dallas Berry scored a 53 and junior
Jayden Robbins rounded out the top-four with a 55.
Fork Union returns to the course Tuesday, April 4 when it travels to Woodberry Forest School for a 4 p.m. match.
